This heart opening workshop is perfect for beginners to advanced students. New students will learn how fun and stress reducing yoga can be for the body and mind while, advanced yogis will have the chance to deepen their heart opening and back bending techniques. If something is bothering you spiritually, emotionally, or mentally, it is likely to show up in your body. With simple heart and shoulder opening postures along with introspection, you will be able to practice heart opening in more challenging life situations, such as difficult relationships and those with whom you disagree philosophically or politically. This energizing workshop will provide the instruction needed to move safely into heart opening postures by incorporating principles of alignment, breath and awareness. Focus will be placed on proper shoulder alignment and the lower back. Heart opening postures bring vitality to the spine, create space for the abdominal organs and encourage more efficient breathing.
A Committee Member of The Future of Benin and Registered Yoga Teacher, Kat Mackenzie’s teaching style includes detailed instructions on correct alignment and body posture; techniques on breathing; and procedures to safely move into and out of yoga postures. She encourages her students to set an intention for each yoga practice so they can leave the worries of the day behind and focus on making their body and mind relaxed. She currently teaches Hatha, Vinyasa and Prenatal yoga in both group and private settings. Also teaching at the Namaskar event is Kelly Landrigan who began her yoga journey in 2000. After enjoying many different classes and teachers she decided to share the beauty and benefits of yoga with others. She became certified in the Global Yoga hatha and prenatal yoga teacher training and is currently deepening her personal and teaching practice by pusuing John Friend's Anusara Yoga Inspired certification.
