M&WIPM/UHORC

M&WIPM/UHORC is a not-for-profit organization that works with faith based and community based organizations to connect with families who have loved ones who are currently incarcerated and individuals who have been recently released from correctional institutions. Our goal is to empower these families and individuals while assisting with family reconciliation and community empowerment.

 
M&WIPM/UHORC conducts youth and adult empowerment symposiums with a focus on issues such as HIV, corrections, health education, etc. In addition, M&WIPM/UHORC facilitates prison ministry workshops to assist community and faith based organizations in the development of prison ministries.
 
M&WIPM/UHORC is governed by a Board of Directors, which includes officers and general board members. The Summit Executive serves as a consultant and community liaison to the Board of Directors.
 
Our Mission
The mission of M&WIPM/UHORCis to provide services that will promote spiritual and cultural awareness, health education, substance abuse counseling, family development, male/female development, youth development, support groups, and prison ministry through outreach and self-help programs on a community-based level.
 
Our History
Founded in 1982, M&WIPM/UHORC was incorporated on June 29, 1992 and obtained 501(c) (3) not for profit status on July 23, 1999. An eight member Board of Directors and several volunteer members, who are both professionals and consumers, provide oversight and governance of the organization. The primary goal of the organization has always been to increase community awareness of HIV and AIDS and provide support to incarcerated populations. M&WIPM/UHORC is active in the community and has garnered considerable expertise in providing services over the years.
